The Great Vaccine Debate.
It is fast becoming a topic of frequent household conversation. Ever since the month of December it's all we've heard about.
A disease so deadly and dangerous that tens of thousands of well meaning people have thrown caution to the wind and lined up in droves, en route to their valued pediatricians, family physicians, or nearest Walgreens for their next round of immunity. Measles was eliminated from the USA in 2000. There were only 80 cases that year, apparently low enough to give it the official label of "eliminated", even though in reality there were still some small outbreaks throughout the country. Nothing to write home about, the experts supposed.
People were feeling great. Y2K had come and gone with none of the anticipated chaos, the Yankees won the pennant, the first working artificial heart was invented and inserted into a human being, and the Measles had finally been eliminated. It was a great year.
You see, Measles is back. I mean, technically it never left, but now it's really back. There have been a mind boggling 150 cases so far this year; well on pace to break last year's record of 644 cases. Well, at least a record since 1996. It's understandable that so many people would want to be immune from it. According to the CDC:
So yes, it's serious. Unless you think you can't trust the CDC to be forthright and honest about the information they present, you'd be crazy to think otherwise.
If you do think you can't trust the CDC, how about the WHO? Here's what they have to say about the measles:
Goodness gracious. This disease is scary. The CDC tells us it will kill one or two kids per thousand that get it, and the WHO tells us there's no specific treatment, and that you can go blind, get severe diarrhea, or contract pneumonia. No thanks. Obviously if there's a way to prevent it, I'm going to do whatever it takes to save myself and my kids. Vaccine, anyone? I mean, who in their right mind would want to subject themselves or their kids to that kind of sick torture? Not I.
Sound like you?
It used to sound like me.
I used to be just like you. I went about my life like most Americans do. I focused on my own life; my family, my friends, my interests, my work, and my passions. Being an American is awesome; many times we take it for granted. We're often too busy detailing our vehicles and browsing the department stores for bargains, that we forget what life is really like. In our look-at-me lives, we tend to be self centered, and slowly we've let ourselves get lost in the luxuries of having first world problems.
The hot water heater's busted.
The dishes are piling up and you're out of dishwasher soap.
You ran over a nail with the back left tire of your SUV.
Gas is freaking $2.50 a gallon.
You're running late for work.
You know, life.
I have a tendency to bitch and moan about all of it too, but that doesn't make it right. You see, when I stepped back and started looking at life through a big picture lens, I realized that my first world problems weren't really problems at all. They were inconveniences disguised as problems. We are constantly told we deserve the best. We deserve the newest car, the latest gaming systems, or the best cell phones. We are informed that what we need in our lives are new clothes, cable TV, and high speed internet. We're urged to buy the best deals, dine at the coolest restaurants, and watch every single movie that is produced.
And we buy it hook, line, and sinker. We're lined up for miles to eat up the marketing tactics and stay up on the latest fads just so we can be relevant to society.
The television governs our lives.
The internet consumes us.
The iphones make our eyes bloodshot from excessive use.
Technology is our king, is it not? We have become a nation of sheep. We have decided to follow the masses to their unknowing slaughter and we can't even see the clues around us unless someone takes the time to point it out to us.
We are being controlled, friends; make no mistake. If you think you are in full control of your life, go one week without TV, internet, or a cell phone. Good luck.
The video above is more or less how I view life, and the vaccine debate as well. This topic is no different that any other topic that we're told to be concerned with. We are controlled in this arena as well.
We turn on the TV and every news outlet across the nation is telling us that measles is deadly and we should get vaccinated.
We log in and begin reading blogs and articles telling us that whooping cough is deadly and we need to get vaccinated.
We open our newspapers and we see that the flu is easily preventable with a vaccine.
We refresh our phones and see people we know, and many others we don't know, giving personal stories and opinions on how bad these diseases are. Many update their statuses right from their children's pediatrician offices:
"Jonny just got his shots today! He was such a good boy, he never even cried! :) #diseasesarebad"
We've all seen it. We're numb to it.
We all know vaccines are the greatest thing since sliced bread. We've seen it in children's books and cartoons, sing along songs, and homework.
But what if I told you that it wasn't always like this? What if I told you people weren't always scared of these terrifying diseases?
In fact, back in the early 1900's, when the measles really was an epidemic, there were around 4 million reported cases per year, and around 400 average deaths from it annually in the US alone.
The crazy part is, no one was freaking out about it. Just ask your grandparents. It was a common illness that was for centuries considered a rite of passage. Even before we started adopting better sanitation practices nationally, Measles only killed at an 0.002% rate. That was before we figured out that vitamin A intake was extremely important in aiding the body during a case of the Measles. A century ago, even in 1915, the death rate was nowhere near 1 or 2 in 1000 as the CDC tells us it is. It was almost comedic at the time to think of panicking when someone you knew got it. Many people would intentionally try to expose themselves, since everyone knew it tended to be less severe the younger you were, so there was motivation to defeat it naturally and become immune for the remainder of life. Even 100 years ago, physicians knew that getting the Measles was a good thing. Fever is good for your body; it's a natural detoxification of harmful toxins that have hi-jacked your body. Once the rash goes away in a week, and the fever subsides, you're left healthy as a horse and up for anything life throws your way. Bummer that you weren't feeling good for a few days, but the results were well worth it.
I ask, have we gotten smarter or dumber in the last one hundred years?
I know what you're thinking. The Measles obviously got deadlier in the last century. Thankfully there was a vaccine invented in 1963; the first killed virus vaccine began to be widely used until it was shelved due to unforeseen safety and efficacy issues in 1968 for the live virus vaccine. Then, in 1971, Merck's first MMR began to be widely distributed and became wildly popular, thanks to Measles cases decreasing drastically due to the vaccine. At least... that's what the CDC says:
Interestingly, the CDC is not using accurate data here. They don't provide any graphs or statistics from American historical records; they just expect you to believe them. Of course, you should be able to believe them. They are supposed to be a transparent, forthcoming branch of our government; one that we should be able to trust and turn to for accurate information. However, some of the real, historical records indicate that the CDC is lying once again when they claim that in the decade before the measles vaccine was first introduced - the 50's - an estimated 3 to 4 million people were infected, and 400 to 500 people died. The following is from a different pro-vaccine website:
Above, you can observe two things.
One, the chart starts in the year 1954, instead of going back further to give the viewer a more accurate picture of the case numbers decreasing dramatically well before the vaccine was introduced. This is done to achieve the goal of impacting the way people perceive the situation.
Even based on this graph, you can see that even ten years before the vaccine is introduced, there were 700,000 reported cases, not 3-4 million. Even if the CDC's exaggeration of numbers is based on estimating that the number of actual cases is much higher than the number reported, their argument is stifled. If there really were 3-4 million cases annually in the decade before the measles vaccines was introduced(which is entirely possible), then we'd have a death rate of 1 in 10,000, not 1-2 every thousand. Starting to sound fishy yet? Oh, I'm not done.
The CDC also claims that in the decade before the vaccine, there were 400-500 deaths annually. But were there? The answer is no. Not even close.
The graph above, taken from the Historical Statistics of the Unites States, and the Office of National Statistics in England and Wales, gives us a more accurate picture of the true decline in deaths from the measles, long before the vaccine ever burst onto the scene. The death rate had plummeted by 98% before people were getting stuck in the arm with artificial immunity.
So why does the CDC, the WHO, and hundreds of other renowned, well respected sources continue to misguide us in thinking that the Measles is much deadlier and dangerous than it really is? The other sources(hospital websites, renowned doctors, etc) are all taking their lead from the CDC to be accurate with their information, and the CDC is telling us how dangerous the Measles is and how we need to be vaccinated against it. What we as a nation are experiencing right now is cognitive dissonance at its finest. We hear and read something so many times that it becomes reality and truth, even though we've never really looked into the matter for ourselves thoroughly. We choose to trust that something is true when often repeated.
In the link and picture below, I will emphatically demonstrate further that the CDC and the WHO are lying when they say 1-2 out of every 1000 will die from measles. These are official statistics from the UK government website.
Notice the year 1994: 16,375 (reported) cases, and 0 deaths.
This will show you that there is no set death rate for the measles. It depends completely on a mixture of previous health, nourishment, and global location.
So why are we being led to believe that the Measles is something to be feared, when we now know it's a typically benign childhood illness that leaves you with lifetime immunity and a myriad of other health benefits?
Just to further illustrate my point, let's look at a more recent study that confirms what we're saying. Below is a link and an excerpt from a study on the outbreak of measles in France from 2008-2011:
Now we can all see that the CDC and the WHO, along with countless other sources that copy their information, including numerous media outlets, are grossly misrepresenting data. But we haven't answered why they are doing it.
To understand that, we must take a look at another aspect of the great vaccine debate: Herd Immunity.
We all know what herd immunity is. We've all heard that we're supposed to get vaccinated to protect those around us that have weak or compromised immune systems. We've been told by the CDC that herd immunity is what is achieved when a certain number of the population is vaccinated for disease. We've all seen the following links and graphs, which we're expected to just believe because again, we see this information everywhere, including our doctor's office. It must be true, right?
We can all relate to cute little graphs and easy to understand cartoons, so that's probably why they are used. But we're not stupid, are we? Let's look into herd immunity a little further and see what the history and the science actually say about it. Below is a link and an excerpt from a comprehensive study of herd immunity published in Oxford Journals. I have highlighted the quote below because it clearly shows that herd immunity as we know it depends on the vaccine being extremely effective. We'll soon see that vaccines aren't nearly as effective as we're led to believe.
Next we look at an article written by one of the nation's top neurosurgeons, Dr. Russell Blaylock, MD.
Dr. Blaylock brilliantly illustrates why herd immunity is a myth, and how easy it is to see it.
Feeling snookered yet?
Don't feel bad; when I first saw this stuff, I was skeptical too. I wasn't very open to the fact that I'd been controlled throughout my life to have a certain opinion. When I realized that I believed what I did because I'd fallen for a hefty helping of misguidance, I was embarrassed. When I realized that I'd never actually looked into a decision like vaccinating my children, and had relied on the government to provide accurate information for my doctor and I, and that they didn't really have my best interest at heart, I got defensive. I looked for any reason to read the information you're seeing here(plus countless other sources) in the light that vaccines really are completely safe and effective. I was blissfully and ignorantly cognitively dissonant, and had my rosy red shades on until I watched this video, a lecture on herd immunity and the Measles by Dr. Tetyana Obukhanych, PhD, Immunology. It opened my eyes, and has opened the eyes of numerous others as well:
To summarize, herd immunity as we know it does not exist, and never will. Not enough people respond to vaccines to make it a reality. Well over 50% of the population is currently not immune to "vaccine preventable" diseases, and yet there are no terrible outbreaks as we might expect. This should make anyone realize that vaccines had less to do with diseases declining than we've been told. It has never actually been scientifically proven that vaccines eliminated any disease, or that they save the millions of lives that is claimed by the US government or The World Health Organization. We need to realize that what third world countries(which is where the scare stats are generated from) need is clean water and better sanitation. Not vaccines.
Also, keep in mind that there are ZERO studies on crucial aspects of vaccine safety, including rigorous safety studies on the long term effects of vaccine ingredients. There are no long term studies on the current childhood vaccination schedule, which has tripled in the last 30 years. There are no US studies of the overall health of vaccinated versus unvaccinated children. Thousands of parents report that their unvaccinated children are far healthier and consistently have much fewer health issues than their older, vaccinated siblings. We need to take notice of this and demand a large scale study to put this debate to bed. We are often told that the science proves vaccines are safe, but in reality, the science is on the side of the vaccine skeptics. Below, I will highlight several peer reviewed studies that link vaccines to a myriad of health issues, including autism. Many of these studies demand more research in certain areas, which is often not done.
"The Future of Measles In Highly Vaccinated Populations" - PubMed
"However, despite short-term success in eliminating the disease, long-range projections demonstrate that the proportion of susceptibles in the year 2050 may be greater than in the prevaccine era. Present vaccine technology and public health policy must be altered to deal with this eventuality."
"Intense Exposure May Have Resulted in High Risk, Even among Revaccinees" - Oxford Journals
"Vaccinated and unvaccinated students were equally able to infect their siblings. Total protection against measles might not be achievable, even among revaccinees, when children are confronted with intense exposure to measles virus. Am J Epidemiol 1998; 148;1103-10."
"Measles inclusion-body encephalitis caused by the vaccine strain of measles virus." -PubMed
"The presence of measles virus in the brain tissue was confirmed by reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction. The nucleotide sequence in the nucleoprotein and fusion gene regions was identical to that of the Moraten and Schwarz vaccine strains; the fusion gene differed from known genotype A wild-type viruses."
"Aluminum in the central nervous system (CNS): toxicity in humans and animals, vaccine adjuvants, and autoimmunity." -PubMed
"In young children, a highly significant correlation exists between the number of pediatric aluminum-adjuvanted vaccines administered and the rate of autism spectrum disorders. Now that you're getting the picture that the science is far from settled, and that "anti-vaxxers" are "anti-science" or have been "debunked", I invite you to continue researching the peer reviewed scientific studies that you've probably been told at some point do not exist. The link below is to a website that has compiled well over 100 such studies, some blatantly obvious, others requiring a bit more thinking and a general understanding of science. They all point to the same thing: Vaccines are not as safe or effective as we've been led to believe. These studies are only the tip of the iceberg.
Still think vaccines saved us?
Still believe the science has been settled?
Still of the opinion that "anti-vaxxers" are just uneducated morons who are endangering their kids and everyone else around them?
If you said yes to any of these questions, I don't think I can help you. Perhaps you actually need a psychiatric evaluation. I realize it's hard to jump into this topic with an open mind, especially since we've all been programmed to believe vaccines are completely safe and effective. However, that doesn't give you or your doctor a good enough reason not to recognize a con when you see it. Many doctors are starting to research the topic themselves, after spending at least 8 years in med school being programmed to only see the potential benefits of vaccines. Perhaps this is why we're seeing more and more doctors around the country that have decided to be flexible with parent's wishes, and actually disclose the warnings, risks, and contraindications that each vaccine package insert tells them to disclose with each patient. It's quite encouraging. By the way, if you're new to this topic, make sure you read some package inserts. They provide clinical study results and warnings of side effects for each vaccine. Reading them is truly eye opening.
For good measure, I've included a few memes which illustrate two major points of the debate quite well:
Kermit has a point. He's looking at it from a more accurate perspective, instead of focusing on the very small chance that you'll suffer some sort of severe complication from measles. He must know that we've discovered that with proper vitamin A, C, and D intake, we can set our bodies up naturally to handily defeat a typically benign disease. But that's none of his business; just ask any hard core pro-vaxxer.
Boromir has a legitimate case. Just ask Dr. Blaylock or Dr. Obukhanych. Vaccines only target one aspect of the immune system, and only about 50% of the population even respond well to it, gaining temporary immunity of up to 10 years.
With all this in mind, the question becomes:
Why is this vaccine debate so one-sided?
There is a concerted effort underway to make "anti-vaxxers", AKA people who question vaccines, sound completely irrational and uneducated. We as a people are being divided, and it is the doing of media corporations, who in turn are heavily invested in by the big pharmaceutical companies, who obviously can't afford for their multi-billion dollar industry to be questioned or ignored. There is a vast amount of information out there that will allow you to put together the pieces yourself; you just have to put the time in. I don't have that kind of time to include every link and statistic I've compiled over my time in the vaccine trenches.
All we "anti-vaxxers" want is a fair representation. We are parents of vaccine injured children, or people who have put in countless hours researching vaccines to come to solid opinions and beliefs. We are being treated like outcasts, germ infested freaks, and chronic liars, when that couldn't be further from the truth. We only want other parents to have unbiased and balanced information to base their choices on. In general this is not being given, and it's time that changes.
So ask yourself, what's so bad about questioning a medical procedure that has killed, maimed, and altered the lives of millions?
They want to make vaccines mandatory. A good product should not have to be made mandatory.
A good product should sell itself.
And now, even more lies are being spread about us. For example, Things Anti-Vaxxers Say(TAVS), a popular pro-vax Facebook page, is renowned for their privacy-breaching tactics. They capture pictures from people that question vaccines and post them in their group, twisting words, taking quotes out of context, and publicly mocking parents who have experienced their child being injured by vaccines. It's utterly despicable and is the definition of cyber bullying. Many of them have been known to call CPS on people who express concern about vaccinating their children. It is a breeding ground for all sorts of low life juveniles and deplorable lies. For example, here's a comment that is generally common place there:
If that makes you sick to your stomach, that's a good sign. This is how this fight is being fought on the pro-vaccine side. Not with science, not with respect, not even with dignity. It's completely over the line, but unfortunately many people buy it, because the mainstream media is not reporting this topic fairly or accurately at all. It's easy to despise someone who is knowingly putting your kids in danger. That is, if they're really putting your kids in danger.
We are not, and we only want to avoid the chance for life altering injury for our kids via vaccines.
If you can see this more clearly now, I thank you for taking the time to read this.
You can help by doing more research, and studying the actual science behind vaccines, instead of just blindly following the masses. Critical thinking, logic, and common sense are great tools in this fight. We don't need science or medical degrees to do the research ourselves and see we've been had.
If any of the information here has resonated with you and you'd like to learn more, join my Facebook group, The Vaccine Gamble. The information contained there is mind blowing. I've only scratched the surface in this blog, believe me.
Just remember, you do have a choice, but unless you stand your ground and speak up for your rights now, those choices may disappear sooner than you think. We are on the verge of medical dictatorship and a totalitarian government, and we need to speak up against it if we want our rights preserved. It may appear to be a lopsided fight, but with each person who stands their ground comes a shift in power. Let's take it back.
I leave you with a powerful video on the topic of a new internet phenomenon called "Astroturfing".
Friends, it's time to grab some shears and get to work.
